This week the green staff will be verti-cutting the greens. The blades cut the grass up and down rather than horizontal, to help promote new growth, better turf density and smoother greens.
There is a great article on Golf Shake on why greenkeepers top dress at: https://www.golfshake.com/improve/view/11272/Why_do_greenkeepers_topdress_greens.html
The green staff will then top dress the greens, this is the process of spreading a layer of sand to improve drainage and quality of the sand/soil mix.
The green staff will also be putting a 7-0-14 magnesium fertiliser on the greens, to help aid grass grow and to keep the turf healthy.
